Nominate an outstanding senior for the 2010 Senior of the Year Award ...

State Member for Bundoora Colin Brooks is urging local residents to nominate outstanding seniors in the community for the 2010 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards.

Launching the state wide search on 9 June, Minister for Senior Victorian Ms Lisa Neville encouraged those in the community, organisations and local councils to recommend seniors who have made a difference in their community.

“Senior Victorians give so much to our State and the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards provide us with an opportunity to recognise these efforts,” Ms Neville said.

“It is a great way to thank them for what they have done and to celebrate their achievements.”

To be eligible for an award, nominees must be over 60 years of age, an Australian citizen, a resident of Victoria and have made an exceptional contribution to their community.

Awards will be presented in four categories; the Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year, Council on the Ageing (COTA), Victoria Senior Achiever Awards, Go For Your Life Award and Veteran Community Awards.
