Riding for Children in Need!

There is nothing more powerful than a good education. It is the single biggest factor which impacts the future of children.

While the state government is investing in our education system and in particular the kids who need support, there is always more that can be done. Without the right help, many kids fall behind or become disengaged from education, which can impact the rest of their life.

That’s why the work of The Smith Family is so important. They run a range of innovative programs to support kids get a decent education.

To support The Smith Family, I’ve teamed up again with my Parliamentary colleague and Ben Carroll (Member for Niddrie) and others to get on our bikes and ride Around the Bay 2017. I’ve been doing a lot of training for the event on 8 October and I’m looking forward to the challenge of tackling the 210km ride! Our team is called “Labor in Lycra” – certainly a sorry sight, but all for a good cause.

We’re asking people to sponsor our ride so if you can spare a few dollars (no amount is too small), we know the Smith Family will put it to good use.

All donations, no matter how small, are appreciated for this worthy cause.
